Evaluation programs require you to trade for a minimum number of days, typically 10-15. Sometimes evaluations are split into multiple steps, each with their own profit target and minimum number of days traded requirements.
A trading day is generally measured (for CME group instruments) as the period from the Globex open (17:00 CT) until some time around the NYSE close (e.g. 15:00CT).

Not closing a position before the end of the trading day, i.e. holding a position into the overnight session, is generally an immediate break of a test rule.
Some evaluation programs do exist that allow multi-day swing trading. These are generally constrained to using Micro E-mini contracts.
When there are market holidays, evaluators tend to follow the CME holiday and settlement schedule. For example, if Monday’s a holiday and the market closes early at 12:00CT, any trade opened between Sunday 17:00 and Monday 12:00 will be counted as part of Tuesday’s full trading day from Monday 17:00 until Tuesday’s close.
